Gregory W. Tucker

Gregory W. Tucker is the Founder and Principal of The Tucker Group LLC – a strategic communications advisory firm that provides essential services related to brand positioning and reputation management, crisis communications and media relations, employing approaches and tactics to advance individual and organizational objectives, mitigate reputation risk and engage essential stakeholders. For fourteen years, Greg held senior positions with Aegon NV - a leading international financial services group operating in 25 markets and specializing in retirement, life insurance and asset management solutions. For seven years beginning in 2006, Greg and his family were based in The Hague where he served as the group’s Global Head of Communications and was chiefly responsible for directing the company’s communications during the global financial crisis.  Upon returning to the U.S. in 2013, Greg was responsible for leading communications and corporate social responsibility for Aegon’s U.S. subsidiary - Transamerica - as well as serving as Executive Director of the Transamerica Foundation. During this time, Greg conceived and developed the radio podcast focused on the intersection of personal health and financial planning: “ClearPath - Your Roadmap to Health & Wealth” - produced by Baltimore’s National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate, WYPR, 88.1 FM.  In 2018, Greg launched his strategic communications practice and has since advised major political leaders, CEOs and assisted major institutions and organizations in navigating complex reputation challenges and in developing authentic and differentiating stakeholder communications.

Beginning his career in Washington, D.C. as a press secretary for six years in the U.S. House of Representatives for two members of Congress, Greg went on to also work for a major Catholic institution in Washington, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (for which he authored an illustrated, narrative history titled, America’s Church), before moving to Baltimore in 1997 to become the Vice President of Public Relations and Community Affairs for the Grammy Award-winning and internationally acclaimed Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. As chief spokesman and publicist for Maryland’s largest cultural institution, Greg was responsible for promoting the Orchestra’s more than 100 performances annually, in addition to its international tours, community outreach initiatives, and supporting its annual fundraising and capital campaign activities. Greg also developed and co-hosted two NPR radio programs aimed at making classical music more accessible to a broader audience.

Greg is a past board chair of the American Heart Association, Greater Chesapeake Region, in addition to having served on the boards of the Living Classrooms Foundation, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance.  In 2023, Maryland Governor Wes Moore appointed Greg as a Councilor of the Maryland State Arts Council, serving as the Grants Committee Chair.  Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Governors of the Center Club and Chair of the Center Club Foundation, and is also a Founding Director of the Marvin Hamlisch International Music Awards.  Greg also serves as a member of the Council of Forward Thinkers of the Future Today Institute. 

Greg and his wife are long-time Baltimore City residents and the parents of three grown children.  In addition to being an accomplished pianist, Greg is an avid consumer of books on history, politics and enjoys golf and biking.
